Case Number: 1196
This 29-year-old woman came to our Upstate New York office to discuss a breast lift. Her breasts started to sag following pregnancies and she no longer had any fullness above the bra line. She wished to have her breasts lifted and made more perky and came in to see what could be done.
As you can see on the preoperative photograph, this woman had developed some sag of her breasts as a result of the pregnancies. Sag of the breasts, or ptosis, can result from pregnancy, weight loss, or age. In some cases, the breasts developed with some ptosis without any cause of the factors. In this case, the breasts had third degree ptosis, with nipples that pointed downward. This can be corrected with a breast lift with or without implants. There are a variety of different breast lift procedures and the choice depends on the amount of sag, the elasticity of the skin, and the size of the breasts. Commonly, an implant is added with the breast lift to give an improved shape and longer lasting fullness above the bra line.
The postoperative photographs shown here are six weeks after the surgery. These scars will fade significantly over time and in most cases are quite inconspicuous. We were able to reduce the size of the areola to make them more proportionate and greatly improve the shape and location of the breasts.
