What to Expect During Recovery
Most patients experience some swelling, bruising, and tightness for the first one to two weeks after surgery, and a compression garment is typically worn to support healing and minimize swelling during that time. Any incision drains, if used, are usually removed within the first week. Light daily activities can usually resume within a few days, though heavier lifting should wait. Most patients return to work within one to two weeks, depending on how physically demanding the job is, and can resume more strenuous exercise after about four to six weeks. Dr. Rockmore will give you a specific timeline based on your procedure and how your body responds to healing.
