Healing in Time for the Holidays

With a Christmas tree and lights in the background, a smiling woman has a blanket wrapped around her and holds a mug.

As a plastic surgeon in Albany, NY, I talk a lot about healing and recovery. Here’s why now is an ideal time to start booking a procedure: If you can get your surgery soon, you will be back in action by the time the holidays are underway. A little more specifics:

Mommy Makeover

What: A mommy makeover is a combination of procedures designed to restore your body after childbirth. Sometimes diet and exercise alone cannot get rid of stubborn loose skin on the abdomen and fix sagging breasts. This procedure usually includes a breast enhancement of some sort, a tummy tuck, and liposuction.

How long: It takes about two weeks to recover. If you schedule your procedure in early December, you should be fine to celebrate Christmas with the little ones—not to mention, you will look fabulous for NYE.

Facelift

What: A traditional facelift typically focuses on the lower two-thirds of the face, the place where many experience early signs of aging. This procedure can address displaced fat and sagging tissue along the jawline, lost volume and lax skin in the cheeks, lack of definition in the neck, and wrinkles in the lower half of the face.

How long: Recovery takes about 2 weeks, but pain is usually limited, and the most severe bruising and swelling will be during the first week. We could use laser technology to help break up bruising if necessary and speed up that part of healing. Along with that, we offer postoperative lymphatic massages to help with swelling and fluid accumulation.

Breast Augmentation

What: Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the country because of its versatility. This procedure can add volume, give your breasts more symmetry, help make your body more proportional, and boost your confidence.

How long: Generally, there is only 1 week of downtime. Many patients are able to limit pain medication intake, as well, needing it for only the first few days. If you book soon, you can debut your new self as you ring in the new year.

Brazillian Butt Lift

What: The Brazilian butt lift is a 3-step process. First, I perform liposuction on the abdomen, back, love handles, thighs, arms, or even double chin to harvest excess fat. Then I process that fat to remove impurities. That fat then goes into the buttocks.

How long: The procedure takes about 1 to 2 weeks to heal. Bruising and swelling can be easily concealed with clothing. Lymphatic massages can help significantly with swelling and speed up recovery. The first massage session is complimentary, but it can be beneficial to do several sessions.

Nonsurgical

Of course, patients can always schedule nonsurgical treatment options such as WarmSculpting, TruSculpt iD or injectables — and those have essentially no recovery time. These smaller treatments can also make great complements to surgical procedures right before the holidays. Don’t hesitate to request a consultation or call (518) 328-3330 to get more information about any one of these procedures. It can be the perfect way to treat yourself this holiday season.

I am a patient who has had botox treatments. I was in over the Summer to consult w/ Dr. Rockmore about Ultherapy. After doing some homework, I learned it can be extremely painful. In the meantime, I heard about Areolase treatment which is not painful. Is Dr. Rockmore offering this treatment ?
